  at the meeting tonight was read a letter to all congregations in canada.

  it explained that since most publishers end up with left-over public edition magazines that didn't get placed at the end of each month, they will now no longer continue to have an individual magazine order per publisher.

  instead, the entire congregation's supply of service edition magazines will be in a stack at the back of the kh, and they are to be taken according to need, with whatever is left over after service to be put back in the stack.

  Need Opinions -- Engaged to a JW!!

  ok, quick run down of my situation.. .

  1. i am not religious.

  my now-fiance was raised jw but left the religion about 10 years ago.. 2. we started dating last march, i got pregnant within two weeks.

  Your best resort may be to feign interest in seeing the PROOF that it is indeed the ONE TRUE RELIGION (as they claim). By posing questions based on info from this and other websites, you may be able to get him thinking about the many errors that exist but that most JWs are blinded to. If your discussion involves one of the JWs in the cong, you will have to tread lightly so as to not be labeled "apostate" right from the start.

  I suggest the above.

  You have a long term relationship with this man now, you have a child together. Your fiancee is physically out but mentally in, the opposite to many here who are mentally out but physically in for family.

  You need to read Captives of a Concept by Don Cameron.

  You also need to read Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan.

  Under no circumstances try to show him anything on this site or make any mention of reading 'apostate material' and don't leave the books I mentioned around; he will just shut down.

  More on Saturday's drama: Endo-symbiotic theory mentioned not once but twice

  i don't want to give a full synopsis of saturday's drama, for fear of inducing stupor among this thread's readers, but.... .

  the drama deals with a jw family with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in various stages of rebellion against all things jw.. the older brother is one of the "rebels", while the younger brother is a thoroughly annoying piece of brown-nosing crapola, completely buying into the jw mindset.. anyways, the younger brother is asking the older brother about why he doesn't want to attend the family study any more.. the older kid's rambling answer touches on something along the lines of "i'm learning things in school about how life really came here.

  it's not as simple as you think!".

  I've been waiting for someone to upload that drama on Youtube. The Sunday one is on there but not the Saturday one.

  When the 'cult' reference was made, I saw two brothers a few rows in front of me look at one another and raise and eyerow.

  Something was adrift with that drama.

  Is the Society doing an extra "push" for Field Service this year?

  maybe it is just the area i am in, but i have run into more jw's in field service this year than the last 7 or 8 combined.

  i have had three visits to my house, one for the memorial, one for a special talk and one for the convention.

  and yesterday was the 5th time this year i have been approached while out for my daily walk/run and given a tract or magazine.

  Seems from memory that there are two to three special campaigns each year.

  They have definitely stepped up the 'special campaigns'; I would bet my arse on them doing the 30 hour pioneering again next April.

  WHY have District Conventions??

  during sunday's program of the dc..."donations" came up and there was mention of using "debit and credit cards" wow!....

  so i started thinking... we have an assembly hall in our town?

  10 mins from where we have our conventions.

  I expect they make a charge per publisher for beforehand too.

  I noticed in the drama that when the brother was calculating his ingoings and outgoings to see whether he could cut back his work hours, donations to the society were right near the top of his outgoing list.

  i wish to thank everyone who has helped me over the past nine years to fight the watchtower society in court.

  as a result of your kind support there has been important legal precedents set, a tremendous amount of media coverage created and numerous magazine articles published to expose the watchtower society and many lives have been saved.

  Hi Lawrence,

  My understanding of Canadian law is not great, can you clarify why you are withdrawing the case? Is it because of lack of funds? How is it that a case can be 'sold'?
